چکیده

Majorana quasi-particles may arise as zero-energy bound states in vortices on the surface of a topological insulator that is proximitized by conventional superconductor. Such system finds its natural realization iron-based superconductor FeTe0.55Se0.45 combines bulk s-wave pairing with spin helical Dirac states, and which thus comprises ingredients for modes absence an additional proximitizing In this work, we investigate emergence vortex lattices such materials depending parameters like magnetic field strength lattice disorder. A simple 2D square model here allows us to capture basic physics underlying system. To address problem disordered lattice, occurs real systems, adopt technique singular gauge transformation modify it can be used periodic boundary conditions. This approach go larger than otherwise accessible, successful replicating several experimental observations platform. Finally related should useful further investigations role interactions, toward quantum computation.

Observing Majorana bound states of Josephson vortices in topological superconductors.

In recent years there has been an intensive search for Majorana fermion states in condensed matter systems. Predicted to be localized on cores of vortices in certain nonconventional superconductors, their presence is known to render the exchange statistics of bulk vortices non-abelian. Here we study the equations governing the dynamics of phase solitons (fluxons) in a Josephson junction in a to...

Majorana bound states from exceptional points in non-topological superconductors.

Recent experimental efforts towards the detection of Majorana bound states have focused on creating the conditions for topological superconductivity. Here we demonstrate an alternative route, which achieves fully localised zero-energy Majorana bound states when a topologically trivial superconductor is strongly coupled to a helical normal region. Such a junction can be experimentally realised b...

Observing Majorana bound states in p-wave superconductors using noise measurements in tunneling experiments.

The zero-energy bound states at the edges or vortex cores of chiral p-wave superconductors should behave like Majorana fermions. We introduce a model Hamiltonian that describes the tunneling process when electrons are injected into such states. Using a nonequilibrium Green function formalism, we find exact analytic expressions for the tunneling current and noise and identify experimental signat...

Majorana fermions and exotic surface Andreev bound states in topological superconductors: application to Cu(x)Bi2Se3.

The recently discovered superconductor Cu(x)Bi2Se3 is a candidate for three-dimensional time-reversal-invariant topological superconductors, which are predicted to have robust surface Andreev bound states hosting massless Majorana fermions. In this work, we analytically and numerically find the linearly dispersing Majorana fermions at k=0, which smoothly evolve into a new branch of gapless surf...
